Biography

Jan O'Sullivan is a Dublin-based abstract and contemporary artist specializing in acrylic paintings and original mixed-media drawings. Deeply influenced by high-end interior design aesthetics and curated color palettes, Jan creates artwork designed to act as a structural anchor for modern living spaces. Her versatile practice spans expressive landscapes, seascapes, figurative work, portraits, and bold abstracts. Since launching her artistic career in 2018, her pieces have become sought after by homeowners and interior stylists looking to add a sophisticated, tactile layer to contemporary interiors.

It has been through consistent sales of her artworks on the Irish online galleries and in-person sales through local advertising and referrals that Jan has been encouraged to continue to paint and better understand her craft and buyers.

She has a background in IT and banking, which influences her methodical approach to creativity. A lifelong passion for crafts led her to making a business of crafting handmade cards and holding card making workshops locally. She began painting after failing to find affordable, large-scale original art to stage her own home for sale. And from 2018 has directed her passion for creativity into her emerging painting practice.

She has extensive experience with local group exhibitions, notably the ArtNet Dlr group shows in Dun Laoighre, where she has exhibited seven times since 2023 and has exhibited in two Winter shows and one Summer show with Ranelagh Arts Group exhibitions.

Artist Statement

I believe that a beautiful room isn't truly finished until the walls hold a physical dimension. My abstract and contemporary pieces bridge the gap between fine art and high-end interior styling, acting as bespoke decor tailored for modern living. Guided by a love for architectural lines, eclectic concepts, and a love of fauvism, I utilize colour contrasts, layering, and distressing techniques to create dynamic centerpieces. I build each canvas to deliberately complement premium fabrics, raw timbers, and stone finishes, offering collectors a striking visual anchor that elevates their architectural space from a structure into a home.
