Irish Artmart Auction Guide
Irish Artmart Auctions connects artists and collectors through curated online auction events featuring original artwork. This guide explains how auctions work, how artists can submit artwork, how buyers can place bids, and what happens after an auction closes.
For Buyers
Browse the auction catalogue, view original artworks, and place bids securely online. If you are the highest bidder when the auction closes, you will receive a winner notification and invoice with payment instructions.
How to Bid
- Create or log in to your Irish Artmart account.
- Visit the current auction catalogue.
- Select the artwork you would like to bid on.
- Enter your bid and confirm it before the auction closes.
After You Win
Winning bidders receive an invoice after the auction closes. Once payment is completed, the artist will prepare the artwork for shipping. Shipping costs, delivery times, customs duties, and import taxes are the responsibility of the buyer where applicable.
For Artists
Artists can submit eligible artwork to open auction events through Irish Artmart. All submissions are reviewed before approval and inclusion in the public auction catalogue.
Submitting Artwork
- Log in to your Irish Artmart artist account.
- Open the available auction event.
- Submit your artwork with accurate details, images, dimensions, medium, year, and reserve information where required.
- Wait for approval before the artwork appears in the auction catalogue.
After an Artwork Sells
When an artwork sells, the winning bidder is invoiced. Artist settlement begins once buyer payment has been received and confirmed. Artists can view payout progress through the Auction Payouts section of their dashboard.
Settlement Statuses
- Awaiting Buyer Payment: The winning bidder has not yet completed payment.
- Awaiting Artist Payout: Buyer payment has been received and the artist payout is pending.
- Paid via Stripe Connect: Artist payment has been processed through Stripe Connect.
- Paid Manually: Artist payment has been issued manually by Irish Artmart.
- Refunded: The sale was refunded and no artist payout is due.
Settlement Statements
Artists can download auction settlement statements showing the auction date, auction name, artwork title, sale price, commission, net artist amount, and settlement status.
Important Notes
- All bids are binding once placed.
- Artwork submissions are subject to approval.
- Unsold artworks may be returned to store, re-auctioned, or archived depending on the auction settings.
- Irish Artmart deducts the applicable auction commission before calculating the artist net payout.
