Description
Spontaneous works on paper, instinctive and raw, exploring the theme of texture. In these works Katja Wittmer uses various textures, colour themes and patterns in an intuitive way, being entirely led by her subconscious. This work is on museum quality acrylic paper with a white border. Mounted on white mat. Dimensions of artwork 30x20cm
In her mixed media works, Katja Wittmer creates colour compositions that invite to curiously explore beyond what is apparent at first glance. Playing with form, texture and abstraction, Katja Wittmer develops the wonderful complexity of colour -in an interplay that extends through several layers, she achieves a unique and highly individual compositional power, creating her own unmistakable style of abstract modern art.

My artistic inspiration draws from exploring my inner self, creating paintings with a powerful personal emotional impact. I am fascinated with how colour and form alone can trigger an individual emotional response based on personal experiences. Using bold colours, dripping paint, sand, plaster and wax I create complex textures and hidden layers within my abstract paintings that are waiting to be discovered. I am intrigued by the process of covering and revealing— by layering textured paint and then stripping it back I offer a glimpse into what lies hidden underneath the surface. Using this technique I create unique works of abstract expressionism which challenge the boundaries of perception. My work is engaging and challenging, leaving plenty of opportunity for individual interpretation and reflection.
“The joy of abstract Art is that everyone can find their own story in what they see.”
