Painting 1: Oil on canvas textured board measuring 10 x 8 inches. A piece in the Autumn colours collection of my paintings. Another location from my imagination which develops on the canvas. I never start out with a particular image in my head, everything develops as the paint flows onto the canvas. This piece used plenty of ochres with darker colours to create a fairly heavy application of oil on a small board. This one is all about the fairly dark background of the Autumn colours. #449.

Painting 2: Oil on canvas textured board measuring 10 x 8 inches. A piece in the Autumn colours collection of my paintings. Another location from my imagination which develops on the canvas. I never start out with a particular image in my head, everything develops as the paint flows onto the canvas. This piece brings a little more light into the painting with a much brighter background colour and is all about the light and Autumn colours. #455.

Painting 3: Acrylic on textured board measuring 10 x 8 inches. A piece in the Autumn colours collection of my paintings. Another location from my imagination which develops on the canvas but not as easy as the previous oil paintings as the acrylic dies so fast. I never start out with a particular image in my head, everything develops as the paint flows onto the canvas. This one is all about the light and Autumn with a hint of blue on the forest floor to bring a different feel to the painting. #464.

I started painting in 2022 after Covid and when I made the decision to leave my job after 36 years of employment for a large US company. I had never painted before and decided to give it a go to keep myself busy while creating some art. It's been a journey and I think I am improving. I don't have the right mindset to paint any real locations so everything I paint just appears on the canvas, textured paper or recently on the wooden panels I upcycle when they become available. My artwork is varied but I usually return to trees, forests, mountains or landscapes. I focus on colours before I paint and whatever happens on the canvas shows through the colours I have selected. I mostly paint with Oils but will use Acrylics once in a while, especially if I am painting candles. I have always used the name "Shannow" as it was my email address from way back when email and the internet were something new. The name is taken from a character in a book I read and it just stuck with me.
