A nature painting. Or a painting about perception?
This painting does not ask you to choose the more extraordinary answer. It asks whether the answer you carry is truly your own.
The moon belongs to the sky. The water belongs to the earth.
At least, that is what we have learned to see.
From beneath the trees, everything is familiar. There is comfort in knowing where things belong, in accepting what we have been told, and in seeing the world through explanations already given.
But closer to the edge, where the mist might sharpen your vision or blur it completely, certainty begins to loosen.
There is no obligation to move. Sometimes remaining where we are is necessary. Sometimes it is a choice. And sometimes comfort quietly becomes the reason we stop questioning.
What if the moon and the falling water are not separate at all?
Perhaps they are. Perhaps they aren’t.
The interesting part is that you get to decide.
