My painting technique combines precise control with spontaneous expression, utilising a range of mediums and methods to construct complex, textured surfaces. I begin by layering collage materials, blending smooth areas with crinkled forms and soft shapes with sharp edges. I apply layers of acrylics and glazes and make marks with my favourite tools and with pencils and pastels. I work swiftly, devoid of judgement and open to surprises, I respond directly to the evolving surface, rotating the painting as I add or subtract layers and marks. Maintaining a sense of playfulness, I gradually introduce more deliberate marks into the composition. Continuously layering and manipulating the surface, I bring certain elements forward while pushing others into the background, exploring the interplay of colours and shapes to create depth and interest. Born in Manchester, UK, I achieved a BA hons in Ceramic Design. I moved to Ireland in 2006 and in 2020 I began exploring abstract art, and remain immersed and passionate about this genre.

Shipping Policy

Siobain O’Brien offers worldwide delivery.

Paintings are usually dispatched within 3-5 business days. You will be notified by email when your painting has been dispatched.

Please note: If a painting requires varnishing before shipping an extra 2 weeks is required to make sure varnish has completely dried. You will be notified immediately by email upon purchase if this is the case.

INSURANCE

It is strongly advised that additional shipping insurance is purchased to safeguard your new original artwork investment. Shipping insurance can be purchased online by a number of providers and is up to the buyer to acquire.

DUTIES AND CUSTOMS

Duties, custom fees, or any other associated fees are the responsibility of the buyer.

Please check with your local post office or online for customs information including any fees that may be incurred on your end before purchasing.

Siobain O’Brien is not responsible for any delays that may happen at customs.
