I painted this scene to feel quiet, open, and a little mysterious. The composition is simple, but I wanted the atmosphere to carry the emotion. A vast blue sky dominates the canvas, shifting through different tones of turquoise and deep azure, with a soft, glowing cloud formation near the centre that acts almost like a suspended light source. That brighter cloud breaks the smoothness of the sky and gives the whole painting a sense of movement and dreamlike energy.
Below, the land stretches out in warm contrast. The field is made of golden-brown grasses, with earthy tones that ground the image and balance the cool intensity above. A dark path or shadowed channel cuts through the foreground, leading the eye inward and creating depth. It feels like a road, or perhaps a natural depression in the land, inviting the viewer to imagine where it goes.
I kept the horizon low so the sky could feel expansive and overwhelming in the best way. The contrast between the rich blue above and the dry, sunlit land below was important to me — it creates a feeling of solitude, distance, and stillness. The whole piece is meant to evoke that moment when you stand alone in an open field and look up, sensing both the scale of the world and the calm of being in it.

Lighting the horizon, these tones represent divine illumination, wisdom, and knowledge.
The grounding foundation of the field, brown symbolises stability, humility, and being “down to earth”. It reflects our connection to the physical world and the endurance needed to walk our spiritual path
