Description

Oil painting on textured paper measuring 12 x 16 inches. This was another piece which was primarily focused on creating an unusual skyline as the background. Once it looked good to me, I created the middle and foreground for a very stormy feel. All of my paintings are straight out of my imagination and usually develop on the canvas. I don’t often plan a particular piece and when I do I rarely find myself sticking to the plan and always end up creating a piece than only comes to life, for me, after the majority of the paint is on the canvas. This is my painting #436, I add a number to each piece I complete to allow me to track the work I have done.

Some of the oil on textured paper paintings will come pre-mounted in a bright white mounting frame at no additional cost.

I started painting in 2022 after Covid and when I made the decision to leave my job after 36 years of employment for a large US company. I had never painted before and decided to give it a go to keep myself busy while creating some art. It’s been a journey and I think I am improving. I don’t have the right mindset to paint any real locations so everything I paint just appears on the canvas, textured paper or recently on the wooden panels I upcycle when they become available.

My artwork is varied but I usually return to trees, forests, mountains or landscapes. I focus on colours before I paint and whatever happens on the canvas shows through the colours I have selected. I mostly paint with Oils but will use Acrylics once in a while, especially if I am painting candles.

I have always used the name “Shannow” as it was my email address from way back when email and the internet were something new. The name is taken from a character in a book I read and it just stuck with me.
