My work explores the connection between structure and spontaneity through the use colour and texture. I use geometric forms, organic shapes, and contrasting palettes to create abstractions that invite reflection. The circle, divisions, fragmented grids and lines recur in my work, suggestive of cycles, boundaries, transitions and moments of in time. My process is experimental, intuitive and responsive, drawing on a sensory perception that is out of step with the world. Through layering, scraping, printing, and overpainting, I often allow traces of earlier missteps and memories to remain visible, revealing a history embedded within each piece. The use of colour informs my work, with strong contrasting shades evoking energy and dissonance, and cooler tones reflecting calmness, balance and contemplation. Rather than depicting specific places or narratives, I create atmospheric environments that are investigations into impermanence, connection, sensory perception and emotional resonance.
