Paintings in oil on Dublin.

Description

Ely’s Gate, Rathfarnham

Andrew Moore grew up in England and pursued fine art studies with a focus on oil painting at the University of Newcastle during the 1990s. He later expanded his knowledge by studying art history and gained professional experience working for a London art auctioneer before relocating to Ireland around the year 2000. Since then, he has worked as an art librarian while continuing to paint whenever possible. Moore’s artistic practice centers on painting, primarily using oil on various substrates such as canvas, cardboard, and wood. He is drawn to architectural subjects, especially industrial architecture, reflecting his interest in the industrial heritage of Britain and Ireland. His style is influenced by impressionism and abstract expressionism, with a particular affinity for grey tones and color nuances. Throughout his career, Andrew Moore has explored different painting styles inspired by artists like Monet, Caillebotte, Sisley, John Singer Sargent, Sorolla, Bomberg, Freud, de Kooning, and Hoyland. His work captures both figurative and cityscape themes, often painted en plein air, demonstrating a blend of traditional and expressive techniques. Despite his varied influences and professional commitments, painting remains a central and enduring part of Andrew Moore’s creative life.
