Description

“The God Mother” emerges from a profound interrogation of consciousness itself—a dialogue between self and cosmos mediated through color as light. In this work, white is not mere pigment but the between: the liminal space where individual awareness meets the infinite universe, where the boundary dissolves and distinction becomes impossible. The artist has spent years in philosophical study; this painting is the result.

The figure at the work’s center is mad—furious, fractured, caught in the weight of self-awareness—yet she is an angel. She guides from within the fury itself, transmuting rage into luminescence. The gold arranged around her composition carries the heaviness of this transmutation: like a dam holding back the weight of one’s own consciousness, only to release it as radiant energy. Gold becomes the visible substance of alchemy, of self-awareness transformed into light.

Pink and blue are not decoration but resonance and coherence—the frequencies through which the soul learns to vibrate in harmony with itself and the universe beyond. The zebra-like striations of Faber Castell colored pencil and oil pastel create a visual mantra, a rhythmic patterning that mirrors the oscillation between inner and outer, between the mad self and the divine guide.

White radiates through every passage—not as highlight but as revelation, as the luminous space where you become indistinguishable from the universe itself. This is heavy work. It asks: what does it cost to transmute the weight of your own consciousness into light? And who am I becoming in that alchemical fire?

I'm a self-taught artist working primarily in oil pastel, sometimes combined with colored pencil, applied to paint on both canvas and paper. My process is intuitive rather than planned — I paint the energy that comes off the surface, letting the piece form capriciously as I follow it rather than force it. There's an exchange in the work: I put energy into the piece, and it gives something back, almost like it remembers me. Paper pieces are framed using balsa wood, a material carried over from my background in F1D indoor free-flight model aviation. Each piece is a study of that energy as it takes shape, more discovered than designed.
