This work is a very loose interpretation of one of my favourite places located close to Wicklow Town. I often spend hours sitting on the cliffs in the soft mossy grass looking down to the sea watching the waves rolling in and onto the beach. It’s a quiet place where one can disconnect from the stress and routine of daily chores and focus in on the beautiful surroundings on all sensory levels. The nearby seal colony makes for wonderful sightings during most of the visits and my stay is often concluded by a quick dip in the sea just before I leave.
The piece is finished with a high gloss varnish that makes the water appear nearly mirror-like and adds a wonderful depth to this work. The cliffs were formed using various structure pastes to create interesting effects and inviting the viewer to take their time and explore every detail.
