Stephen Shaw Art
My work is an exploration and an interpretation of rural and urban settings and is a search for beauty both natural and man-made. I hope when people see my work they will be encouraged to see beauty in everyday places and aspects of their surroundings that they wouldn’t normally pay attention to, be it people, landscapes, the urban, the suburban, the rural or just daily routines. I explore the ordinary and the everyday and I am inspired by the light, colour and mood of Irish landscapes and their ever-changing scenes. I like to paint what I know! Most of my work is an exploration of places I know well: the city streets of Derry and Dublin, or the rural and coastal areas of Inishowen and beyond.
I have been painting for a number of years on and off but only took it up seriously in 2015. My preferred medium is acrylic and my main body of work…
Modern art Store
The aim of the store is to supply a variety of work for sale nationally and inter-nationally. The paintings are the result of a broad experience in the arts, gained from travel and various sources, especially that of the work of Asian art. My work has been shown both in Ireland and abroad to acclaim. I have been a professional artist since 1955 and have had four major exhibitions in Ireland, including one which travelled country-wide,both North and South of Ireland.
I am an Irish Artist, living on the beautiful West Coast of Ireland, in Co. Galway, and situated along “The Wild Atlantic Way”. Predominantly, I work in the mediums of Watercolour & Oils. My artworks are painted to connect with my audiences’ emotions! I offer a piece of art that can either uplift and inspire them as they walk past it, or maybe to just sit down with a painting and be transported to somewhere deep within their soul where they escape the day to day realities for five or ten minutes. My paintings are colourful, atmospheric, and detailed, covering a wide array of themes. I am a self-taught Artist, born with natural artistic instincts and throughout my childhood, I was extremely lucky that this creativity was always encouraged.
Irish American Assembly
Jody Mc Grath is a painter for our times. I purchased " Connolly's Chair " from him, a piece both beautiful and thought-provoking . Like him, this painting continues to inspire daily. Mike Kelly, Actor (House of Cards, Taboo) Jody's work is bold, powerful and yet somehow childlike in the way the great Basquiat is. You can feel the dangerous history of his youth in his work. This is an artist combining deep colors with political overtones and strong emotions into beautiful paintings. I am honored to hold one for a while. Josh Lucas, Actor
