Description

My first oil on paper piece measuring 12 x 16 inches. This was a piece that was created using spare paint from the palette which would normally go unused. I was surprised as how well the oil worked on the paper and how this piece came to life. Very easy to frame these paper pieces as standard phot frames work really well. This is my painting #413, I add a number to each piece I complete to allow me to track the work I have done.

Some of the oil on textured paper paintings will come pre-mounted in a bright white mounting frame at no additional cost.

I started painting in 2022 after Covid and when I made the decision to leave my job after 36 years of employment for a large US company. I had never painted before and decided to give it a go to keep myself busy while creating some art. It’s been a journey and I think I am improving. I don’t have the right mindset to paint any real locations so everything I paint just appears on the canvas, textured paper or recently on the wooden panels I upcycle when they become available.

My artwork is varied but I usually return to trees, forests, mountains or landscapes. I focus on colours before I paint and whatever happens on the canvas shows through the colours I have selected. I mostly paint with Oils but will use Acrylics once in a while, especially if I am painting candles.

I have always used the name “Shannow” as it was my email address from way back when email and the internet were something new. The name is taken from a character in a book I read and it just stuck with me.
