When I was younger, summer days meant trips to the bog to turn and foot the turf.
This piece brings me back to those long summer days — off we went with neighbours and relatives, a meitheal in the truest sense. We were eaten alive by midges, scalded by the sun, and by the end of the day there was hardly a part of you that didn’t ache. Romantic notions! 🤣
And yet, it’s the little things that stay with you — the warmth of the sun, the constant bite of the midges, and the smoke from the turf burning to boil the kettle. That smoke was probably as welcome as the cup of tea itself, keeping the midges at bay! 🤣
Those days are gone now, but the memories remain — the hard work, the shared company, and the simple rituals of summer in the bog.

My work captures the movement and atmosphere of the sea, waves, sandy shores, rugged rocks, and seagulls alongside traditional Irish rural scenes such as sheepdogs herding sheep, stone cottages, fishing cottages, and bogs. Each piece is made entirely by hand using natural wool fibres and thousands of needle strokes, resulting in unique, one-of-a-kind artworks that reflect the beauty of Ireland’s landscapes and coastline.
