Description

Original one of a kind artwork
Oil paint on canvas textured paper
18x24cm (~7×9.5″)
Artists mark on the bottom right corner and signature on the back
Unframed
Inspired by Eliška Březinová

My series of abstract figures was created with the aim of capturing the fleeting shapes glimpsed when a skater spin at high speeds. The rotations are so fast that parts of the body seem to disappear or duplicate in the moment. These original oil paintings capture that unique sense of movement in this series with bold brushstrokes and textured oil paint applied with a palette knife. It resulted in a mini series of semi abstract highly modern artworks, with a minimalist aesthetic.

This painting is sold unframed and unmounted. I would advise mounting and framing the artwork behind glass to protect the painting for years to come.

Gráinne Nielsen is an oil painter who lives on the North West coast of Ireland, working from an impressively messy home studio. They spend the winter watching figure skating, the summers thinking about watching figure skating, and almost all of the rest of their time painting figure skating. Sometimes they paint other things they think are pretty, just to keep it fresh.

PACKAGING
Where possible I endeavor to use environmentally conscious packaging options. This varies from situation to situation but includes reusing packaging and using biodegradable plastic alternatives. However from time to time there may be occasions where it is not viable for me to use plastic alternatives without compromising the safety of the artwork in transit. This is most commonly in cases where plastic pallet wrap is required in order to protect a painting during shipping. Where possible I will use a compostable alterative, but this may not always be possible in the order processing time frame. In such cases I will prioritize the safety of the artwork in transit and shipping the artwork in the required time frame. If 100% biodegradable packaging is important to you please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email at [email protected] and I will give you a full list of packaging materials which will be used in the shipping of your order.
