This original oil painting was inspired by the skating of US figure skater Amber Glenn. Multiple figures illustrate movement in the layback spin, as her hand curls gently into to her chest. The strong blues of the figure stand out against a light background, and the subtle textures of the oil paint bring an extra dimension to the work. A highly unique original artwork, the warm skin tones and calming blues make it a great choice for living spaces. The subject is interesting and the pose striking but the colours and composition prevent it from overpowering a space. Gráinne Nielsen is an oil painter who lives on the North West coast of Ireland, working from an impressively messy home studio. They spend the winter watching figure skating, the summers thinking about watching figure skating, and almost all of the rest of their time painting figure skating. Sometimes they paint other things they think are pretty, just to keep it fresh.
