Description

‘The Drowning’ is inspired by the artwork of the late Eddie McGee’s, ‘Another Random Apocalypse’.

Using printmaking techniques (stencils, and monoprint) the finished artwork evokes themes of chaos and doom. The random figures, faceless and anonymous, lost to their doomed fate, are the forgotten – the migrants and refugees.

For many of us, we may observe their plight with sympathy, or sometimes with disdain, or perhaps even, indifference.

Lives lost may soon be forgotten, but the urge to migrate is deep within us all – it is a survival instinct, a drive so human that to deny it is inhuman.
