Oil on textured paper measuring 18 x 14 inches. Back to adding a bit of bright to my pieces as I change from very dark pieces to much brighter pieces. This piece is all about the elements of green throughout the piece and it worked out really well. The paper used has a perforated end which can be enclosed in a mount before framing. #429

I started painting in 2022 after Covid and when I made the decision to leave my job after 36 years of employment for a large US company. I had never painted before and decided to give it a go to keep myself busy while creating some art. It’s been a journey and I think I am improving. I don’t have the right mindset to paint any real locations so everything I paint just appears on the canvas, textured paper or recently on the wooden panels I upcycle when they become available.
My artwork is varied but I usually return to trees, forests, mountains or landscapes. I focus on colours before I paint and whatever happens on the canvas shows through the colours I have selected. I mostly paint with Oils but will use Acrylics once in a while, especially if I am painting candles.
I have always used the name “Shannow” as it was my email address from way back when email and the internet were something new. The name is taken from a character in a book I read and it just stuck with me.
