Description

Blue Sky Mountains #2 is an original artwork on stretched canvas created in Oil in 2025. The piece measures 31 x 31. This work explores Oil on stretched canvas #217. This is one of many mountain pieces I have created. All are very different but yet similar. This piece is about the mountains breaking up the skyline.. Ideal for buyers looking for an original piece with clear detail, character, and presence.

All my paintings are from my imagination, I never know what will happen on the canvas and wait until the first base colours are in place to begin creating the image that in many ways is already there. Each of my paintings in numbered to allow me to track my creations. This was painting #217.

I started painting in 2022 after Covid and when I made the decision to leave my job after 36 years of employment for a large US company. I had never painted before and decided to give it a go to keep myself busy while creating some art. It’s been a journey and I think I am improving. I don’t have the right mindset to paint any real locations so everything I paint just appears on the canvas, textured paper or recently on the wooden panels I upcycle when they become available.

My artwork is varied but I usually return to trees, forests, mountains or landscapes. I focus on colours before I paint and whatever happens on the canvas shows through the colours I have selected. I mostly paint with Oils but will use Acrylics once in a while, especially if I am painting candles.

I have always used the name “Shannow” as it was my email address from way back when email and the internet were something new. The name is taken from a character in a book I read and it just stuck with me.
