Primarily Graphite artwork along with coloured pencil surrealism and realism.

Description

Graphite on 70×50cm hot-pressed paper.
This piece considers those pushed to society’s margins. People labelled, excluded, or unable to conform to the standards imposed on them.
When society is viewed under the microscope, the act of casting a metaphorical line to entice the vulnerable becomes a commentary on how addiction takes root.
The work underscores that addiction is not simply a fringe issue but a reflection of the societal conditions that help sustain it.

Thomas Hendy is an award-winning artist whose work is shaped by a life lived at the margins, marked by addiction, homelessness, and incarceration. Working primarily in graphite, he draws light from darkness, using the medium to excavate memory, trauma, and resilience. His images are not acts of distant observation but of lived participation, creating surreal worlds formed from experience, where past and present converge to reveal a hard-won understanding of the human condition.
