A watercolour portrait study of light on the face. This is a study from a reference photo taken by the sitters wife. As her husband was driving she liked the light as it shone on his face. I was inspired to use this photo to study the creation of light and shadow using watercolour.
Hi, my name is Jean and I am a portrait artist living and working in Cork, Ireland. Drawing and painting since childhood my primary interest is in the art of portraiture in both watercolour and oil paints. The image or idea for the painting will dictate which medium I use.
My work is an exploration of what it is to be human. My paintings are both a response to and observation of my own daily life and the natural world around me. My painting style focuses on my interest in colour, energy and self-expression.
