This Character first appeared to me many years ago. I made a small sketch that remained untouched for over 17 years, until one morning, it resurfaced. The optical illusion behind the character represents the illusory world of my mind, while the figure itself embodies the eye within.
This eye judges me from countless angles. Despite always being present, I can see it and choose to ignore it.
Alina Slav is a Dublin-based artist working in painting, printmaking, and Joomchi, a traditional Korean paper-making technique. Her practice is an ongoing exploration of colour, texture, and emotion, weaving personal experiences into visual narratives. Through acrylic painting, she captures mood and transformation, while her printmaking adds depth to her artistic language. In Joomchi, she creates layered, tactile pieces that embody storytelling and material exploration. Continuously pushing creative boundaries, Alina’s work reflects a deep commitment to discovery and artistic expression.
