I am an ex Electronics Engineer . Art college wasn’t considered the road to a suitable, sustainable, long term career back then. Eventually I left that profession and became a Design Consultant for a UK ceramics company. At the same time I was working freelance with Interior Designers in Cork providing Artwork to order for Hotels and Showhomes . I also took private commissioned work. 2010 arrived and work led me to upstate NY where I eventually became involved in the local art scene . I returned home in 2020 due to the disruption from the outbreak of Covid . Now I live by the sea in East Cork where I get to paint and watch the water’s ever changing rhythm . It has definitely influenced my Art . My previous work from many years ago was realistic . In-depth Botanicals , Landscapes etc. In 2022 I lost a sibling and with that came great change even in my Art. I became incapable / disinterested in recapturing my older style. With the change came something more authentic , real and diverse. It is totally intuitive , sometimes peaceful, sometimes complicated , sometimes turbulent . As an Artist my goal is to delve further into creating meaningful, insightful and soul searching bodies of work. No piece is planned. It is all completely intuitive. I like to give my viewer something to immerse themselves in, something to question . Art needs to be “remarkable “. Not in the astounding sense of the word. It needs to evoke a reaction , a comment , a remark. In this way, a chord , good or bad has been struck. I have created 25 paintings this year and am currently in the process of creating a new website.I submitted my “Caught in a Kaleidoscopic dream” to the RUA ( Royal Ulster Academy ) Open Art Exhibition and was preselected for inclusion in this years Exhibition. I am also honoured to have been accepted to exhibit in the Royal Scottish Watercolour Painters exhibition In January 2023 in the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh.
