Antoinette O’Mahony

“I am an artist living in Furbo, Co. Galway on the West Coast of Ireland. I love line, shape, colour, & texture. I am influenced greatly by artists who practice varying degrees of abstraction from Matisse to Georgia O’Keefe, Frederick Hammersley to Lee Krasner amongst many other influential abstract artists. My work begins with a playful technique I used as a child of either, ‘taking a line for a walk’ or ‘cut & paste’ – it all takes off from there. The theme or intention of the line & shape there from the start – the conscious adult mind draws the line, or cuts the shape, but the childhood memory of play keeps the line & shapes uninhibited.”
